So Mark decided he wanted to learn how to make chainmaille. So we ordered him a bunch of steel jump rings and by using my jewelry making tools - voila - he has made a chainmaille dice bag. That's right, a dice bag - to hold ones dice while playing Dungeons and Dragons. (And you thought chainmaille was going to be the dorkiest part of this post.)
So he started with this:
And ended up with this:
I helped him sew in the lining and he finished it off with a leather cord to pull it closed. I actually think it's pretty great and am super proud of his geekery. He gave this one to my brother Mike for his birthday and is now making plans to make one for himself. (Now that he practiced on this one, he can make his even better. You know how you do.)

Woah. I'm blown away by both the awesomeness of the bag and the dorkiness of making a chainmail bag to keep D&D dice. Both are very impressive.
FABULOUS!!!!
How can I get one? Name your price...

Bob, I know Mark would be more than happy to make you one too. In fact he was just saying that maybe he could make several and sell them on my etsy site... So what color do you want your lining to be?
very cool...and yes dorky, but cool. Turned out great!
I'm not picky about color. Anything would be fine. Thanks so much!!!
Funny, I was just talking to someone yesterday about making chain mail. Except this person was telling the story of someone making chain mail during Stake Conference....
Very cool with a hint of dork!
This turned out great! What did Mike say when he opened it? I'm sure he was excited to get it and hope he appreciated all of Mark's hard work.
