After enlightenment, the laundry. (Zen proverb)

For some reason a few weeks ago I really felt strongly that we needed to sell our washer and dryer. Don't ask me why. And whenever I get such strong feelings, I act on them. So on MLK day I put our W/D on Craigslist and they sold within a matter of hours. Now the weird thing about all of this is that we do not have a new W/D coming our way. We are planning on moving when our lease is up, so it's very possible that our new place will come with a W/D - but that's not until May. It is now January. Despite what some boys I know did when poor college students, we will not be going 5 months without washing our clothes. And it turns out that my parents never sold their W/D when they moved to Australia so I thought maybe we could just have theirs. But the day I was going to ask for them/pick them up, I found out that my parents are probably moving back to NC within a month. Craziness. So since our complex has a laundry facility (which will be referred to as 'laundromat' from this point forward cause I think it's cooler) I figured I'd just use that and then see what I feel strongly about next.

Saturday evening I grabbed my book, our laundry and detergent and hiked over to the laundromat. And can I just say that I was feeling very cool and city-like. I could see myself laughing with Rachel from Friends as we washed our clothes and were strong and independent women of the city. And the best part is that you can wash/dry all your laundry at the same time because there are multiple washers and dryers. So I 'vegged' out and read my book (the only seating provided was a bar table and two metal bar stool chairs - apartment complex should use very high rent charged and invest in couch or possibly anything with cushions) still feeling very chic if not slightly uncomfortable. So an hour and a half and $5 later all our laundry and my book were done. What success. So every week as you do your laundry from the comforts of your home watching your reality TV, you just think of me - Queen of the Laundromat. (Even if it is only the apartment laundry facility and not actually cool city laundromat of movies and dreams.)

Well it's not definite with my parents yet -but more than likely they are moving back. I will fill in details as I know more.

Lisa - we have not decided for sure where we are moving yet - anywhere but where we are! Since I work in Durham it is an option... where you at?

I love that your husband was okay with acting on your strong feeling that didn't make so much sense. Hilarious. Jeff's grandma thought the laundromat was "just so much fun" when they were out a W/D for a month. She's so city chic like you.
