Latest on Betty

Here are the details of my mom's accident: She said she was going about 70 kph (45 mph) and leaned the wrong way. She hit a guard rail but stayed with the bike. No other vehicles were involved. They called the police who called my dad, while paramedics treated her at the scene. Then she went to the ER, OR and ICU... Now the latest on her injuries: it turns out that she has fractures in both her hip sockets and her pelvic bone, plus she has one fractured vertebrae (T10) . Her spinal cord is fine and the bone is in place but they are keeping her on her back to stabilize it. The fractures are such that they need to heal on their own. So they are saying she will be in the hospital for a while and then on her back once she's at home. She had some fluid in her lungs so she's currently in ICU, but her breathing is improving so she'll probably be in a regular room by Sunday. It seems that this may be a long ordeal, so just keep her in your prayers! I have to say it's pretty weird not being able to just hop over to the hospital. But I know that she's already met some really great women from church and that they will take good care of her. But it's still hard being on the other side of the world...

Oh man that's a lot going on with your Mom! But I'm glad to hear that she's making improvement. Hopefully she's out of ICU by now. Keeping her, you and you're whole family in my thoughts and prayer!
